Katha — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

Katha helps members of the Indian diaspora reconnect with their heritage language through reading and spoken practice. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. We built Katha to work without accounts and to keep your data on your device by default.

Information stored on your device

Katha does not require an account to use. The following stay on your device and are not transmitted to us:

Deleting the app removes this data from your device.

Reading content

Stories and lessons are downloaded from our content servers so you can read them in the app. These are read-only downloads; no personal information is sent to retrieve them.

Katha includes practice calls: a spoken conversation with an AI character in your target language. When — and only when — you start a practice call:

Analytics and tracking

Katha does not use third-party advertising, and does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell your information.

Age and children

Katha is intended for adult learners. Because practice calls use a third-party voice service that requires users to be 18 or older, the app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
